And of course the Wells Street Bridge since the festival took place on Wells Street (hence the name) a little further North π

Train Platform on a Rainy Chicago Day
I stayed over the rest of the day after taking Lee Ann & Beth to the Airport to try and take some more shots around Chicago, but it just poured rain all day. But on my way to the zoo, I did meet a new friend, Shannon who I had lunch with and perused the neighborhood second-hand shop. On the way back to pick up my rig from the Airport, I was determined to get at least one shot before I left. So I skipped one train and captured this platform shot in the rain. Yeh-yeh, I guess I wimped out and stayed dry this time ;0
Kinda goes with the train tunnel I posted earlier…

Chicago Time
Ok, now that I’ve gotten out all my orders from the trip (except a couple waiting on stretcher bars to come in), I’m able to start working on new pieces. π
This may be the first to be completed – just started working on it a couple hours ago and looks good. Named ‘Chicago Time’ it’s a really special piece to me as it represents time spent with my sister Lee Ann & her partner Beth Akard. Beth actually pointed the clock out to me and I positioned myself to capture the sun in the haze behind the statue.
Welcome to my portfolio guys! π
I will always cherish the time spent that weekend with Lee Ann and Beth – especially getting to know Beth a bit. I hope this piece will remind me to take time and enjoy my time with friends & family even when the schedule is hectic. I was able to bring along to a show or visit with each of my family members on the 2 month long trip and that was very important to me π
When we set out I told Lee Ann – “during the show (Wells Street Arts Festival), I’m in charge – outside of that you set the schedule and can be the Entertainment Director etc. I will just ‘be there, immersed’ not needing to ‘seek out’ anything”. Seems to work π ….
Denver – Friday Afternoon
6 shows, 20 states and over 9,000 miles
We’ll pulled my rig (Ford F-150, 8 cyl & 8′ trailer) across a good section of the nation from Montauk, NY to Vail, Co and back to Texas starting in Midland Texas and ending up there this weekend to hang out with Mom & Dad a couple days. Traveled by auto, train, bus, plane, bicycle. Stayed with friends family, hostel and a whole lot of Hotels. Ate some really great food and open quite a few cans of peas behind the wheel. Judged quite a few rest stops and highway service signs.
The odd thing is I left my music off. Had few CDs with me but got tired of messing with them and just enjoyed the road: Oceans, rivers, plains, tornados, rain, cold, heat, a little more rain, wind, and a LOT MORE RAIN. Rained every show once I left Texas, although there were some nice days. Okay son Maryland I only sludged during setup, bet the weekend was nice π
Brought Dad to NY, LeaAnn & Beth to Chicago, and Marcela to Vail. A greatΒ 2 month working vacation all paid for by my sales π Plus I have some neat pictures as I shoot everywhere I went. Look for those soon! π
Texans on the Roadβ¦
Met quite a few ‘Texas’ on my trip, in every city.
The first guy that walked into my booth in Frederick, Maryland looked around and said
‘first booth I walk in – don’t tell me your from Texas?’Β I said ‘yep – Austin
He said ‘south Austin, up on business – you?’Β Β Me: ‘Naw, North-Central – wouldn’t have made the drive all the way up from South Austin!’ π
