Accepted to the Montauk Fine Arts Festival May 23-25

A few days ago, I started to apply for out of state shows and I am very excited to be accepted to the Montauk Fine Arts Festival May 23-25. So far, this is my out of state show. Montauk, New York is just a little further out the peninsula from the Hamptons about 50 miles from New York City. I haven’t been to NYC since right before 911 and looking forward to the trip. Will try to take the scenic route there and back to visit some neat places and photograph.

Austin Green Living Expo

Drove in from a visit with my parents and private showing in Odessa Thursday and went right to the Austin Convention Center to setup for the Austin Green Living Expo. After 5 days of setup/breakdown, showing, and driving I got to relax after delivering a large canvas here in town Monday.

Really enjoyed meeting people and other Artists Friday-Sunday, and very happy to have some of our Art Of Texas artists join in by setting up Sunday for the Buy Local Market area.

β€˜First Friday’ at Framers Gallery in Georgetown Texas

Last night I was at Framers Gallery for the ‘First Friday’ event in downtown Georgetown where I met more of the staff and gallery patrons.

As I stated previously in my blog, I had been concerned about being in a gallery and was looking for the right energy for my work. When I met Fred, the gallery owner @ an event, I felt good about it and decided this would be the first gallery I placed my work into. I had had my 3D reliefs in nice retail locations but had not pursued this since I switched to my photography.

The staff, artists and friends of Framers Gallery has been very welcoming & supportive. I get the feeling this is more a family than snooty gallery πŸ˜‰

The atmosphere is different in the gallery than I experience at art shows and other events. Fortunately I was able to witness my first canvas sales at the gallery and interact with the patrons who bought my work πŸ™‚ I love making that connection, and one thing I want to work on is to provide information cards for those who purchase online or in galleries when I’m not present. Had done this before but wasn’t quite happy with the result.Β  I’m now in a better position through experience and making it a priority.

To everyone I met last night thanks for the conversation and look forward to seeing you again soon πŸ™‚

Home & Garden Show last Weekend

Well I joined our Art Of Texas group for the Home & Garden Show this last weekend at the Austin Convention Center. We setup on our 20×20 space on Wednesday and I worked hard to get those first large canvases ready for the show and made it! πŸ™‚ We had a great time interacting with folks at the show and hopefully gained some good contacts.

Driller & Old International Pickup appeared to have been the hot items for the show and there was plenty of viewing room in the 15×10 area I had.

Thanks to everyone who came out!

New Epson 9900 44β€³ Printer

Driller PrintingMany patrons appreciate that I do all my own production work. Now I have the capability to do images 90″x40″ (or larger).

It was a sight seeing 4 adults maneuver this 433 lb, 6 ft long machine up the steps and around the corner, but we got it in place. I spent the week producing 5 large canvases in time for the Home & Garden show this weekend.
